US Online Poker Rooms
Poker players that live in the United States can still play real money online poker. Since the UIGEA was passed in 2006 some US players are wondering if it is legal to play online poker as a US citizen. I am not a lawyer and can’t tell you either way but can let you know that the UIGEA was a law designed to make it harder to fund an online gambling account. The UIGEA made it the bank’s responsibility to police where people use their credit card and their responsibility to deny a bank transaction where the UIGEA deemed illegal. The bill had no mention of it being against the law to gamble online.

Is Playing Online Poker For Real Money Legal?
From my knowledge there has never been a poker player charged for playing online poker. So the chances of a poker player being arrested or charged for playing poker for real money is minimal.
There are states in the US that specifically have a law against online gambling and the states are: Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Michigan, Nevada, Oregon, New York, New Jersey, South Dakota, Washington, and Wisconsin. We suggest if you reside in those states to not gamble online for real money.
We also suggest that if you live in another US state that you check your local laws to see if online poker is legal or illegal where you live.
